VENT-II, Version 5.3 User's Guide and Software

The VENT-II program analyzes the transient response of the vent system for one or two gas appliances as they cycle, predicting temperatures, flows, pressures, and wet-times throughout the vent system. Both fan-assisted and draft hood-equipped appliances may be modeled in any combination.

Summary:
VENT-II, Version 5.1 is an upgrade to VENT-II, Version 5.0. While Version 4.1 ran under the DOS operating system and Version 5.0 ran under the Windows 95/NT environment. VENT-II, Version 5.1 runs on the Windows Vista amd 7 32-bit environment. Like its predecessors, Version 5.1 is designed to assist architects and engineers with the design and analysis of venting systems with one or two gas appliances. A VENT-II user specifies the geometry and other important parameters of a vent system, such as the characteristics of its appliances (appliance models), fuel gas, the materials used in vent systems, and the thermal conditions under which the vent system operates. VENT-II simulates the operation of the system-predicting flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and flue gas condensation throughout the vent system. VENT-II allows users to create tables and graphs that track the characteristics of each component in the vent system over the course of the simulation. VENT-II, Version 5.1, can import and export appliance models created with Versions 4.1 and 5.0.

The VENT-II program analyzes the transient response of the vent system for one or two gas appliances as they cycle, predicting temperatures, flows, pressures, and wet-times throughout the vent system. Both fan-assisted and draft hood-equipped appliances may be modeled in any combination. The graphical, menu-driven user interface provides a clear, convenient method of entering input data and viewing output data. Documentation, including example problems, is provided. The program has been experimentally validated in the laboratory. Features include the ability to model vent systems with vent dampers, vent joint infiltration, and recirculating flows in oversize vents. In addition, the user also has the ability to change the appliance fuel from natural gas to propane, butane, or any combination of standard constituents.

Compatibility:
VENT-II version 5.3 is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 on both 32-bit and 64-bit machines.

Support:
This software is sold as is. GTI offers no technical support for this software product.
